Inhabitants in Buea are experiencing the worst tragic congestion in the town’s history.
The traffic which has reached all time high during the festive December season now keeps road users standing for hours in a queue.
The traffic situation in Buea, South West Regional capital is caused by a number of factors and attempts to resolve the problem by instituting street traffic lights seems to have generated more problems than they were intended to solve.
Sudden increase in population due to Anglophone crisis means many commercial car owners have abandoned other towns and cities to work in Buea.
Lack of several roads to ease movement in the town has also worsened the situation as the population skyrockets.
Taxi drivers say the street traffic lights aren’t helping the situation as bad programming means more time is wasted on either sides of the one stretch road.
